Deutsche Telekom signs Utopia’s Changemaker ManifestIn a move to promote a low-emission society, Germany’s Deutsche Telekom has signed the Changemaker Manifest of Internet community Utopia [Germany’s biggest online community for sustainable consumption]. With effect from 2015, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of new fleet cars of Deutsche Telekom are to average just 110 g/km, compared to 151 g/km at present. The standard introduced for car makers by the European Union is 120 g/km. In addition, Deutsche Telekom has concluded a cooperation with Deutsche Bahn. For business trips by rail, all employees will get climate-neutral tickets. Deutsche Telekom will thus cut carbon dioxide emissions by 5,700 tons a year. Furthermore, Deutsche Telekom will bet on more environmentally-friendly products, services and business models. In the future, ecological and social criteria will play a more decisive role, e.g. when it comes to product design or the selection of suppliers.
